Salary Information: $3,796 – $4,968 per month
Benefit Information: Tillamook County provides an excellent health coverage plan for employee and eligible dependents, including medical, vision, prescription, dental, life insurance (basic, AD&D, and statutory), and long term disability. Also available are the following voluntary benefits: Flexible Spending accounts, deferred compensation accounts, supplemental life plans, and AFLAC products.
Tillamook County pays 100% of the medical premium at present. Tillamook County provides all uniforms and $500 annual equipment allowance. Overtime is paid at 1.5 times the regular rate of pay.
Tillamook County employees participate in the Tillamook County Retirement Plan with the County paying their 7%, which earns an 8% annual interest. Employees can also contribute up to 10% of their monthly salary.

Paid vacation and sick time with the ability to accrue up to 40 hours in compensatory time. Employees earn 8 hours of holiday time off each month.
Eligible employees may receive incentive pay for special assignments such as: Search and Rescue Lead Coordinator earns 5% above base pay, and Bi-lingual earns 5% above base pay. DPSST Certification pay: Intermediate is 2%, Advanced is 5%.
Department Overview: The mission of the Sheriff's Office Criminal Division is to serve and protect the people and property in Tillamook County. To accomplish this mission, the Criminal Division enforces County ordinances along with County, State and Federal laws. In addition to normal patrol duties, the Criminal Division has three Marine Deputies, two Forest Deputies, two Detectives, one Deputy assigned to the Sandlake Recreational Area, and one Deputy assigned to the Garibaldi area for enhanced patrol services.
Area Information: Tillamook County was organized in 1853. Located on the north Oregon coast, it has a population of 25,250. Tillamook is the home of world famous Tillamook cheese, and the dairy industry is a major player in the local economy. Other major industries include forest products, fishing and tourism. Tillamook County is comprised of 75 miles of scenic coastline, four bays and five major rivers surrounded by the majestic Coast Range. Tillamook, the County seat, is located only 75 miles from the cultural and entertainment amenities of Portland. Tillamook County has a workforce of approximately 275 employees represented by two bargaining units.

Vision: Pass a physical and psychological examination by a licensed physician
Academy Certification: Within eighteen (18) months of employment, must possess a basic police certification from the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST)
Prior Experience: Experience as a criminal deputy and/or some college coursework in law enforcement OR satisfactory combination or education, experience and training.
Additional Requirements: No convictions by any State or Federal government or a crime punishable in State or Federal prison. Good moral character as determined through background investigation. Driving record must be free of convictions for hazardous moving violations within the previous three years.
