Deep Roots. Short Commutes. The City of Wheat Ridge embodies the deep roots of a city with a rich history and a strong sense of community. Its central location provides short commutes to major interstate highways, the majestic Rocky Mountains, and the amenities of the large metropolitan city of Denver, Colorado. Our community encompasses 9.5 square miles and is home to more than 31,000 citizens.
The City of Wheat Ridge Police Department has 78 sworn officers and 35 civilian personnel commanded by the Chief of Police, serving a resident community of approximately 31,000. The community is experiencing significant redevelopment opportunities, as well as the development of two commercial areas within the city. The community is home to a large regional hospital complex, SCL Health Lutheran. The department includes two divisions, Patrol Operations and Support Services, each commanded by a Division Chief. The department has three commander positions, two commanders in Patrol Operations and one commander in the Investigations Bureau.
Qualified candidates will have at least: Two (2) years (60 semester or 90 quarter hours) of college credits from an accredited college or university - must attach transcript to application
Note: If you attach "unofficial" transcripts, you will be expected to provide "official" transcripts at the time of the oral board.
Four (4) years of active duty military service and honorable discharge - must attach DD-214 to application
