Polk County Fire District No 1 is currently building an eligibility list for Firefighter/Paramedic. The department will be pulling a list on October 22, 2018.
Polk County Fire District No.1 requires the FireTEAM test and the candidate PHQ. You can access the questionnaire through your candidate account. The PHQ must be completed by October 22, 2018, or you may not be considered further in the process.
Eligible candidates will be invited to an assessment center to be held on November 15, 2018.
Candidates must possess and submit copies of the following on the day of the assessment center:
Salary Information: Polk County Fire District No.1 has a starting salary of $5,005.95 per month and a top step salary of $6,084.77. This is a classified position that is eligible for overtime.
Benefit Information: Polk County Fire District No.1 provides full family medical, vision, and dental benefits as well as an employee assistance program. The Fire District pays both employer and employee PERS contributions. The Fire District makes contributions to employee HRA-VEBA accounts as well as post-employment health plans. Employees receive paid vacation.
Department Information: Polk County Fire District No. 1 serves a population of 26,000 residents. The District is 185 square miles with most of the population living in the towns of Monmouth and Independence. At the Central Station, located in Independence, there is a combination of paid staff, student residents, and home responding volunteers. There are three rural stations that are staffed with volunteer personnel. The District provides ALS ambulance transport to an area of 205 square miles.
