North Lincoln Fire & Rescue District #1 is currently testing to create an eligibility list and to fill one open position. All testing must be completed by August 10, 2018.
Salary Information: $ 53,246 to $64,782 after 5 years.
Department Overview: Today, NLF&R is a combination fire agency. The agency is governed by a five-member elected District Board. The services we currently provide are firefighting, Emergency Medical Services up to the ALS level, Technical Rescue and Haz-Mat response at the Operations Level. We are a State Licensed EMS agency but do not have transport responsibilities. The District maintains 6 Fire Stations and 26 emergency vehicles.Area information: The District provides fire & emergency services to over 80 square miles of Lincoln County. To the north, the District starts on the south side of Cascade Head at the Tillamook County line. To the east it weaves through coastal forest as far as Mile Post 14.0 on Highway 18 and Mile Post 8.7 on Highway 229. The southern boundary is the Siletz River, and the Pacific Ocean provides a natural boundary to the west. We have significant number tourist facilities, hotels and an Indian gaming facility. There is a mix of urban, suburban, rural and frontier areas.
Population: Residential population of 12,000. With a visitors and day trippers average population is 17,000 to 40,000 during peak weekends and summer months.

Hiring Process: This is a Preapproval testing process. Applicants must submit NLFR application, copies of all Required Certifications, and PHQ for approval to move forward with the Exam process. Applications available on our website, nlfr.org or from District offices. NTN exam passing score is 75%. The top 10 will be invited to a pass/fail Physical Abilities Test. Current CPAT cardholders will be exempt from the NLFR PAT. Oral boards will be scheduled. After Oral Board scoring, the list will be established. The top 3 Firefighter/EMT applicants will be invited to Chief's interview to select 1 for offers of employment. All offers are contingent on a background investigation, medical physical, drug screen.
Specific Disqualifiers/Behaviors: Felony, Criminal Activity Disqualifiers: As per State of Oregon DPSST and OHA regulations
Driving Disqualifiers: Valid Oregon Driver’s License and insurable by the District
Drug Use Disqualifiers: Per NFPA 1582 and District Policies
General Information: Applications must be received postmarked or hand delivered before 4pm on the closing date. The closing date for NTN testing will be August 10, 2018. These are 48/96 hour shifts after academy orientation. There is no residency requirement. NLFR hiring process follows adopted civil service rules.
