Job Classification: Entry Level Patrol Officer
The Cambridge Police Department is currently building an eligibility list for Entry Level Patrol Officer. All candidates must take the FrontLine National exam through National Testing Network.
Salary Information: 2018 Starting salary $20.41 per hour, after one (1) year - $21.49 per hour, and maximum after two (2) years - $22.57 per hour (plus any annual raises)
Benefit Information: Medical Insurance with employee contribution of 15% of the monthly premium, Dental and Vision Insurance provided by the City at no cost ,two 2) weeks' vacation after one (1) year and increases at five (5) year increments, paid sick leave earned at 4.6 hours per full pay period for 26 pays per year, three (3) paid personal days per year and the opportunity to convert eight (8) hours of sick leave over to one (1) personal day, ten (10) paid holidays plus employee's birthday as an additional holiday, Uniform Allowance of $575.00 per year, Uniform Maintenance Allowance - $300.00 per year, Performance Incentive of $250.00 per required standards, Shift Differential of .45 cents per hour, all covered in FOP/OLC contract.

The department is a Community-Policing style of police agency with opportunities for specialization in Investigations, K-9 operations, SRO, SWAT and Narcotics operations. Area Information: The City of Cambridge is the county seat for Guernsey County in Ohio and is located at the crossroads of Interstate 70 which crosses EB and WB) and Interstate 77 (which crosses NB and SB).
Age: 21 years of age (with no maximum age).
US Citizen: Must be a United States citizen.
High School Grad/GED: Must have a high school diploma or GED.
Valid OHIO State Driver's License: Must have a valid Driver's License but if from out of state, must acquire an Ohio Driver's License prior to appointment date of hire.
Ability to Read/Speak English: Must be able to read, write and speak English proficiently.
Vision: Minimum visual acuity UNCORRECTED - 20/40 in each eye corrected to 20/20 with glasses or contacts.
College: Not required but preferred.
Academy Certification: Not required but preference will be given to any applicant that has a current Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy certification or Peace Officer Certification from another State that is reciprocal to Ohio's requirements.
Necessary Certifications: Must have or be able to complete the required Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) Basic Police Training certification.
Schooling Prior and Post Hiring: No required schooling (other than HS) diploma/GED) prior to hiring and the department does require annual training and also OPOTA requires certain annual training requirements.
Hiring Process: Completion of the entry-level testing process through NTN with all applicants providing a DD214 showing Honorable Discharge from the Military receiving an additional 20% on their score that meets the minimum passing score of 70. Must successfully pass the Physical Agility Test performed at the time, date, and site designated by the Cambridge Police Department, an interview, a psychological examination, and a full medical examination to include a drug screen.
