To be eligible, candidates are required to complete the FrontLine National exam and obtain ORPAT certification. Salary Information: $4071 to $5560 mo. There are 17 sworn officers, including the Chief, two Captains, and two Sergeants. The police department also runs a 16-bed municipal jail and is the 911 center for South Lane County.The department has a patrol K9 and a narcotics K9, as well as a School Resource Officer, two Community Service Officers, and a reserve police officer program. Officers work four 10-hour shifts followed by 3 days off. Area Information: Cottage Grove, the “Covered Bridge Capital of Oregon”, is locatedin the middle of western Oregon in the southern part of Lane County, on Interstate 5. It is approximately 20 miles south of Eugene/Springfield and is the third largest city in Lane County. The average high temperature in the summer is 82 degrees, with anaverage winter low of 34 degrees. Population: 9,900 (2017)

Lateral applicants must possess at least a Basic
certification from the Department of Public Safety
Standards and Training, and/or any equivalent
out-of-state certification recognized by DPSST.
Prior Experience: Preferred, not required

background, medical, and psychological examinations.
