Entry Level Application Requirements (and Out-of-State Certified Police Officers):

Complete National Testing Network FrontLine Tests
Pass with an average score of 75% or higher in four FrontLine Tests (including writing, reading, and both Public Safety Self-Assessment Parts 1 and 2)
Submit Scores to the Oregon City Police Department for consideration

Lateral Level Application Requirements:

Currently certified with Oregon State DPSST as a Police Officer,
Have completed a Field Training Program,
Have three current years of Police Officer experience,

Salary Information:

Entry Level starting salary range: $6,406.40 - $7,796.53 monthly, as of July 1, 2024 OCPEA contract.
Lateral Level starting salary is at OCPD pay step comparable to current salary, PLUS 80 hours sick and 80 hours vacation.

Pay incentives for certifications: 5% of base pay per month for intermediate certification from DPSST and 10% of base pay per month for advanced certification from DPSST.

Special Assignments with Incentive and Premium Pay: Field Training Officer, K-9 Handler, Drone Operator, Detective, Bike Patrol, Traffic Team, Crisis Negotiation and SWAT, Department Instructor, Special Investigations, Homeless Liaison, School Resource Officer

Vision: Corrected – at least 20/30. Uncorrected – not worse than 20/100. Must meet State requirements, including vision, hearing, and standards for basic certification as a law enforcement officer with the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST).
College: No
Prior Experience: Preferred, but not required.
Schooling Prior and Post Hiring: Post hiring: will attend the State of Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) Academy

Scholarship Request Form: Oregon City Police is in partnership with The National Testing Network. The National Testing Network (NTN) allows applicants to take the law enforcement video and written test and Oregon Physical Abilities Test (ORPAT) at any time at an NTN location and use those scores when applying with the Oregon City Police Department (OCPD) for law enforcement positions.

There is a fee associated with this service. However, OCPD does not want a fee to prevent any interested person from testing to become an Officer. If you are interested in taking this test for a law enforcement career opportunity but are discouraged by the fee, please complete this Scholarship Request Form. Receiving a scholarship has no bearing on your scoring or testing outcomes. Upon acceptance, this scholarship is only valid for the Oregon City Police Department. You will be notified of your acceptance and sent a voucher number.

You must have applied with the City of Oregon City first before receiving this scholarship. Please do not sign up for testing until you have received your voucher number. The Oregon City Police Department will not forward this scholarship or test results to other agencies.
