Classification: Recruit in the Fire Academy
The Everett Community College FIRE 100 Firefighter Academy is a professional-technical college course that can be completed in 1 academic quarter, either as a stand-alone or as part of the Fire Science Associate of Applied Science-Transfer (AAS-T) degree. Those who complete this firefighter academy course earn 22.5 college credits and are eligible to test for the following Washington State IFSAC certificates, which never require renewal and meet national and international firefighting standards:
Please note that other firefighting credentials, such as for volunteer, wildland, and military firefighting certifications, may not meet requirements for full-time career professional firefighting.The EvCC Firefighter Academy is held during fall, winter, and/or spring quarters, and typically begins on a Saturday prior to the regular academic quarter starting. Classroom sessions include 1–3 evening classes per week, while all-day weekend and other hands-on drill sessions are typically held at area fire departments. Additionally, some Sundays and 3–4 all-day live fire hands-on drill sessions may be held on weekdays.To be accepted to the course, you must be 18 years of age or older, enrolled in Everett Community College, complete all components of the application, and receive instructor permission.
