Job Classification: Reserve Enforcement Deputy Sheriff
Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office is recruiting for multiple part-time Enforcement Reserve Deputy positions and is creating an eligibility list for rotating shifts (SO25-096).
Enforcement Reserve Deputies work a minimum of 24 hours per month with other law enforcement personnel in the protection of life and property as guided by federal, state, and local laws and ordinances. It is important that you submit your scores to YCSO and your NEOGOV application by the deadline to be considered for employment.

Yamhill County Sheriff's Office (YCSO) is sworn to protect and honored to serve the nearly 109,000 residents of our county. Through mutually beneficial cooperative partnerships within our community, we are committed to problem-oriented policing with the goal of reducing the public safety concerns of our citizens and visitors. Yamhill County encompasses 718 square miles and includes the incorporated cities of Amity, Carlton, Dayton, Dundee, Lafayette, McMinnville, Newberg, Sheridan, Willamina, and Yamhill.
We provide correctional and courthouse security services, as well as 24-hour a day patrol of suburban and rural areas, including timberlands and waterways areas. The Yamhill County Correctional Facility is a 255-bed minimum/medium/maximum security adult correctional facility. The Sheriff's Office patrols the unincorporated areas of the county, as well as several cities that have contracted with YCSO to provide law enforcement services. In addition, YCSO has several specialized units including Major Crimes Response Team (MCRT), Marine Patrol, Rural/Woods Patrol, Special Investigation Unit (SIU), and Street Crimes and Narcotics (SCAN).
Enforcement Reserve Deputies supplement and assist regular sworn deputies in their duties and therefore work varied 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts in support of regular shifts, special events, holidays, and weekends. They may work in various special assignments as required.
Salary Information:This is a volunteer position. Reserve Deputies working in regular assignments (e.g., Rural patrol, Contract City patrol, etc.) are unpaid (volunteer) sworn positions. Reserve Deputies working in grant-funded assignments (e.g., Marine, Woods, Marijuana enforcement, special events, etc.) are paid (hourly) sworn positions. Citizenship Required: Yes or have the ability to obtain citizenship within one (1) year of hire
High School Grad/GED: Yes
Valid OREGON Driver's License: An unrestricted state-issued driver’s license with the ability to obtain an Oregon driver license and a good driving record is required.
Ability to Read/Speak English: Yes. Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is a highly desirable skill and preference will be given to qualified applicants possessing this skill.
Vision: Must meet the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training requirements as detailed in Oregon Administrative Rules (OARs) .
College: Not required
Academy Certification: Will be required to attend and graduate a Reserve Training Academy.

Hiring Process: Candidates must pass all written, physical, and oral examinations, in addition to medical and psychological examinations. All candidates must be able to pass a personal background check including, but not limited to, criminal, civil, driving, military, educational, and employment history pursuant to OAR.
