Job Classification: Patrol Officer
The Bryan Police Department is currently hiring for Patrol Officers. All candidates must take the FrontLine National exam through National Testing Network. All employment applications must be completed and filed with the Secretary of the Bryan Municipal Civil Service Commission located in the Police and Fire Complex after successful completion of the online written test through the National Testing Network.

Salary Information: Starting wage is $22.50 per hour, or more if a degree has been obtained through an accredited college. After successful completion of a one-year probation, pay increases to the current contractual one-year rate of compensation.
Benefits Information: Health, Prescription, Dental, and Vision Insurance. 12 Paid Holidays and 3 weeks of Sick Leave Yearly Accrual. Two (2) Personal Days after completion of six months of service and Vacation Leave after one year. Ohio Police and Fire Retirement. Uniform allowance.

Lateral Transfer Information :Lateral transfers are available to those officers who have an OPOTA certificate with a minimum of two (2) years of full-time experience. With proper documentation at the time of application, those officers will be exempt from taking the written examination through NTN. Physical Agility Test :The physical fitness testing will be conducted by scheduling of the applicant and administration. *Candidates that have been certified by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy within one (1) year of the application date of the written test will not be required to take the department’s physical agility provided the candidate supplies the department with sufficient evidence of passing the state test. Following are physical fitness testing guidelines:

The Cooper Standard Method – 40 Percentile – will be used for sit ups and push-ups with the following guidelines:

Requirements :All applicants for the above-mentioned position must be at least 21 years of age and possess a high school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.). Successful candidates must obtain or exceed a minimum score for each of the three (3) physical fitness tests, obtain or exceed the minimum required written exam score of 70%, pass a background check, successfully complete an oral interview, pass a voice stress analyzer, psychological, drug and alcohol screen, physical examination, including stress test, using guidelines established by the Ohio Police and Fire Pension Fund. The candidate(s) appointed to the position must meet the current residency requirements for Police Officers of the City of Bryan. Police Officers shall be, or become residents of Williams County or adjacent Ohio Counties, namely Fulton, Henry and Defiance Counties within twelve (12) months of the date of their employment.
Veterans Credit :Veterans credit of 20% (required by state law), will be granted to those individuals who show certified proof of Honorable Discharge pursuant to state law and the Local Rules of the Bryan Service Commission prior to the written examination. Additional points will also be given for Ohio Peace Officer certificate, any documented degree issued from an accredited college (copy to be turned in with application to receive credit) and/or current Reserve Officer with the City of Bryan Police Department.
Department Overview: The Bryan City Police Department serves the City of Bryan, Ohio. When fully staffed, the department consists of 20 Officers and 5 full-time Dispatchers. We also have Reserve Officers that assist in crowd control and ride with full-time officers as a backup to the Patrol Division. We operate 24/7, 365 days a year. We not only dispatch our department but also the Bryan Fire Department and emergency utility call-outs. We also operate an enhanced 911 system. Additional patrol positions include working with the Multi-Area Narcotics Task Force, Bike Patrol, K9 Handler and Detective.
Area Information: The City of Bryan is located in Williams County. Bryan is the largest populated area of Williams County located in the very northwest corner of Ohio, between Toledo, Ohio and Fort Wayne, Indiana.
