Salary Information:

· 1^st year range $71,617.53 - $73,582.64 (based on qualifications)

· 2nd year range $74,482.23 - 76,469.79 (based on qualifications)

Longevity increases start with year 5

Department Overview: The Taylorville Fire Department serves the residents of Taylorville and the Taylorville Fire Protection District totaling 64 square miles. Today, our ISO Class 3 department consists of 16 team members from one station and prides itself on its strong commitment to community service, prevention, and proactive initiatives.

We are an ALS fire department and respond to over 2,100 alarms annually. TFD has a training facility on-site capable of live-burns and an on-site fitness facility for members.

Written exam:

Go to www.nationaltestingnetwork.com and apply for Taylorville Fire Department, IL Three ways to take written test.

Take the test online through National Testing Network.

Schedule a time to take the test at a National Testing Network Center.

The written test will be available at the City of Taylorville Fire Department after the orientation on October 10th, 2026; you must be registered with the National Testing Network to take the test.

Applications will be handed out at the orientation.

No convictions of a felony or certain misdemeanors, as defined by statute.
Must attend the mandatory orientation and participate and successfully complete all stages of the testing.
