Classification: Corrections Officer (Lateral)
The City of Sunnyside is currently hiring for Corrections Officer (Lateral). The department is building an eligibility list for future positions.
Base Salary: $3,422.05-$4,159.32/mo. plus Benefits Affiliated Position
City of Sunnyside is currently hiring 2 full time positions with the possibility of becoming regular full time employment.
Job Description: Under the direction of an assigned Communication/Corrections Sergeant to perform all activities in the receiving, booking, custody, transport and care of inmates in the City Jail in accordance with the established policies and procedures.
Age: 21
US Citizen: Yes
High School Grad/GED: Yes
Valid WASHINGTON State Driver's License: Yes, at the time of appointment and excellent driving record. If applicant possesses a valid license in another state will have the ability to obtain a WADL within 30 days of appointment.
Ability to Read/Speak English: Preference: Bilingual English / Spanish
Academy Certification: Must possess or obtain state certification from Washington State Corrections officer Academy with 12 months of employment. ACCESS/WACIC certification level I & II Taser Certified User
Prior Experience: N/AaPrefer minimum of one year (12 months) work experience in emergency services, corrections, security, police or military or comparable position dealing with the public. Prefer minimum of one year (12 months) work experience in emergency services, corrections, security, police or military or comparable position dealing with the public. Prefer one year of work experience in emergency or health services, law enforcement, or related field with experience receiving, evaluating, transmitting and monitoring emergency requests via telephone or radio.
Other Qualifications / Requirements: Must have good moral character and successfully pass a polygraph test, psychological exam, medical examination and a financial review. Must be without pending or prior convictions for domestic violence, felony convictions, and no disqualifying misdemeanor convictions. All eligible applicants will be fingerprinted prior to appointment for a thorough background investigation. A period of 12 months probation is required before the Officer is classed as regular employee.
