The interview must be passed at 70% for consideration.Top applicants will be invited to participate in an Administrative InterviewThose applicants passing all phases will be invited to meet with the Chief of Police for an informal interview.Those selected will then be required to pass a rigorous background investigation that includes a polygraph, psychological, and physical examinations.Non-certified applicants will be sent to an AZPOST approved Police Academy, followed by a department Field Training program. Working Conditions:Exposure to potentially hazardous, uncontrollable and life threatening situations.Work is performed in all weather conditions.Work may include sitting and or standing for extended periods of time.Work requires walking, running, lifting, and climbing during efforts to catch or subdue hostile individuals.Situations move quickly from low stress to high stress. Job Description :Patrols assigned areas on foot, bicycle, or motorized vehicle to control traffic, prevent or deter crime and arrest violators; issues warnings or citations to drivers when violations of motor vehicle laws are observed; enforces Federal and State laws as well as University rules. Investigates all types of crimes and accidents; performs follow-up duties on crimes/accidents as directed by supervisors; interviews suspects and witnesses; collects evidence and facts; files appropriate reports as directed by federal, state, or local legal requirements. Prepares detailed written reports of crime, accidents, and incidents. Responds to emergency alarms and calls for service; makes decisions based on analysis of situation and facts. Serve warrants, subpoenas or other court processes as necessary. Responds to public service calls, such as delivering emergency messages, motorist assists, animal complaints, domestic disturbances. Investigates reports of missing persons, identifies areas of potential crimes or unsafe conditions; reports conditions and takes corrective actions. Works with University residents/community and other outside public agencies to solve residential/university concerns. Make oral presentations to citizen groups on crime prevention/public safety issues. Train sworn and non-sworn personnel on departmental policies, procedures, and activities.
