The City of Pendleton is creating an eligibility list for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic. The Pendleton Fire & Ambulance Department (PFD) anticipates filling multiple vacancies from this list. There are 2 current openings.
These positions are regular, full-time and are represented by the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Pendleton Professional Firefighters Association Local 2296.
Salary Information: $6,314 - $8,368/month

General Position Summary:
Under general supervision, performs a variety of duties in response to fire and other emergency calls for the protection of life, property and environment; to render emergency medical response and advanced life support activity; to maintain and operate a variety of firefighting, emergency medical, and fire station equipment; to participate in fire prevention, public education, disaster preparedness, and training activities and to perform a variety of related duties relative to assigned areas of responsibility.

For fire and EMS professionals, Pendleton offers a challenging and rewarding environment. Pendleton Fire & Ambulance responds to a wide range of incidents, including wildland fires in both rural and urban interface settings, structure fires, and high acuity EMS/Rescue calls throughout a large service area. The variety of calls and landscapes provides valuable experience in both urban and remote response settings.
PFD provides fire protection, ALS ambulance transport, and rescue services from three fire stations within its 22 square mile fire protection boundaries and 2,000 square mile Ambulance Service Area. The department responded to over 4,600 calls for service last year. PFD is a combination department consisting of (24) represented career members and is supported by a paid on-call reserve force. Members work a 48/96 (two on and four off) schedule.

This will be followed by an assessment center including skills tests and oral interview. The anticipated date for the assessment center is September 2026 (TBD).
