Advanced Life Systems is seeking to establish an eligibility list for the position of EMT! All candidates must take the FireTEAM exam through National Testing Network to be considered further in the hiring process.

The department requires the candidate PHQ and the Public Safety Self Assessments (PSSA). You can access both questionnaires through your candidate account. NTN suggests completing the PHQ and PSSA as soon as possible so there is not a delay in your process.

Salary Information: $41,608.50 - $47,087.62 per year

Prior Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of continuous employment with an EMS agency, or prior healthcare experience in a healthcare setting.

Necessary Certifications:

Current National EMT-Basic, or Washington State EMT-Basic certification.
Current AHA CPR/AED for the Healthcare provider certification.
Current National EMT-Intermediate or Washington State EMT-Intermediate
Hazmat Awareness: IS 100, 200, 700, 800

Hiring Process:

The first portion of the examination is a written test and is structured to ask EMS related questions based on the applicant’s highest level of training – EMT Basic, EMT Intermediate or Paramedic.
Paramedics will then move onto the practical portion of the examination. This will be a “hands-on” examination and will also be based on the applicant’s level of training. Paramedic candidates should be proficient in-patient assessment, cardiopulmonary resuscitation through knowledge of ACLS, management of a critical trauma patient and all related patient treatments at an ALS level.
The final portion of the examination will be a physical agility test designed to ensure the applicant is in adequate physical condition as required to perform work-related tasks. Interviews are conducted the same day with decisions and offers of employment extended within 14- days of the testing date.

Job Description- Working Conditions:

Advanced Life Systems ambulance service is seeking compassionate, professional Paramedics that will thrive in our high acuity 911 call system. The ideal candidate must have excellent patient care service skills while working under pressure. Must be comfortable working 48-hour shifts, with the understanding that there may be periods of limited downtime due to our call volumes.

Our location in Yakima County often requires our staff to work in extreme climates, confined spaces, and may require hiking/climbing into remote areas for patient care.

Most importantly our EMTS must have a teamwork mindset and possess the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with all agencies, family, or providers with whom we work to ensure we can provide the best outcomes for our patients and community.

Must be able to successfully pass Physical Agility test
Must be able to lift, drag, hoist, and carry different types of equipment as necessary
May be required to lift a minimum of 150 pounds or more repeatedly throughout a 48-hour shift
Requires sitting, standing, kneeling in all types of situations (indoor/outdoor) environments
Requires ability to operate and lift both a standard and bariatric stretcher
Ability to operate and handle wheelchair lift and transfer
Exposure to loud noises, other necessary equipment, bodily fluid, hazardous material
Manage and maintain control under extreme emotional stress situations.
