Willard Fire and Rescue Department is establishing an eligibility list for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic! We will be hiring two positions immediately with the possibility of additional positions in the near future. All candidates must take the FireTEAM exam through National Testing Network to be considered further in the process.
The department requires the Public Safety Self Assessments (PSSA) and the candidate PHQ. You can access these questionnaires through your candidate account. NTN suggests completing the PSSA and PHQ as soon as possible so there is not a delay in your process.
Salary Information: $53,583 – $65,237

Department Overview: The department is in the process of moving to more fulltime staffing and advancement opportunities will be available in the future. The department is currently a combination department staffed by 13 fulltime members and 33 part-time members. The Willard Fire and Rescue Department is located in the southwest corner of Huron County and is 30 miles to the south of Lake Erie. The Willard Fire and Rescue Department covers the City of Willard, Greenfield Township, New Haven Township, Norwich Township, and Richmond Township for a total of 100 square miles for E.M.S./Rescue and 80 square miles for fire services.
The area served by Willard Fire and Rescue Department has a population of 12,000 and increases by 3,000 during the spring, summer, and fall months due to the migrant workers and a private lake area. The response area has a large amount of vehicle traffic due to several major roadways. There is also a high volume of truck traffic (especially wide and oversized loads) on U.S. Route 224, as it is a major alternate east-west route to the turnpike. The department handles a variety of types of calls do to the Rural, Industrial, Railroad, Private Lake, and Highway activity.
