The Pembroke Pines Fire Department (PPFD) is looking for dedicated individuals to join our elite team of Firefighter/EMTs and Firefighter/Paramedics!

Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT)
Required Licenses & Certifications:
High School Diploma or GED
State of Florida Driver’s License with Class E Endorsement
Minimum Standards Course Firefighter I/II Certification
State of Florida Emergency Medical Technician or EMT-Paramedic Certificate
BLS Healthcare Provider
Emergency Vehicle Operations Certificate (EVOC)
** State of Florida Certified Paramedics will be given priority in the selection process**
Competitive Salary & Benefits:
FF/EMT $53,339.52 - $102,610.56
FF/PM $63,722.80 - $114,391.68
The FF/PM Base Salary will take effect upon successfully completing the City of Pembroke Pines Fire Department’s protocol exam. As a condition of employment, an FF/EMT is required to become a certified State of Florida Paramedic within thirty-six (36) months of their hire date.
Retirement/Pension:
10 Year and Age 50 – 30% Benefit
20 Year Pension – 60% Benefit, regardless of age
25 Year Pension – 75% Benefit
26.6 Year Pension – 80% Benefit
5 or 8 year Deferred Retirement Option Plan (D.R.O.P.) available.
Purchase of up to four (4) years pension time for previous military and/or fire service.
Attractive Work Schedule
24/48 Shift Schedule with Kelly Days after 6 shifts worked.
Raises and additional incentives:
All firefighters who obtain a satisfactory rating on their most recent performance review, will receive an increase of 6.5% in October of years 2025 & 2026, and an additional merit increase of up to 5% on their anniversary.
All members with a state paramedic license shall receive an additional 1.5% increase, effective 10/1/2025.
Longevity Pay:
Ten (10) Completed Years of Service: 2% increase in base rate of pay
Fifteen (15) Completed Years of Service: 4% increase in base rate of pay
Eighteen (18) Completed Years of Service: 5% increase in base rate of pay
Education Incentives:
Associate Degree $60.00 every two weeks ($1,560 annually)
Bachelor's Degree $80.00 every two weeks ($2,080 annually)
Certification Pay:
State Fire Safety Inspector $40.00 every two weeks ($1,040 annually
County Fire Safety Inspector $40.00 every two weeks ($1,040 annually)
Medical Insurance Coverage:
Starts at just $40 per pay period for individuals and $71.62 per pay period for family coverage.

JOB DESCRIPTION – FIREFIGHTER / EMT or PARAMEDIC
As a Firefighter/EMT or Firefighter/Paramedic, you will respond to fires, medical emergencies, and hazardous situations. Provide life-saving medical care and rescue services. Inspect, maintain, and operate fire and rescue equipment. Attend ongoing training to enhance firefighting and rescue skills. Engage in physical fitness and readiness programs. Serve the community with professionalism and integrity.
