The Forest Park Fire Department is currently establishing a Firefighter/Paramedic Recruit hiring list! All candidates must take the FireTEAM exam through National Testing Network (NTN) by Friday, February 13, 2026 for the first selection process. This posting will continue for future consideration. Honorably or generally discharged military veterans or disabled military veterans who have served in the military for a minimum 181-day period can be eligible to receive veteran’s preference points in accordance with Section 36.565 of the City of Forest Park Code of Ordinances. The department requires the candidate complete the Public Safety Self Assessment (PSSA) and the Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ). You can access these questionnaires through your candidate account. NTN suggests completing the PSSA and the PHQ as soon as possible so there is not a delay in your process.The department will accept the following agility tests: The Firefighter Mile, Official CPAT and the Forest Park Physical Ability Test (agility test results must be submitted with NTN application, and agility test must have been taken on or after February 13, 2025 in order to be accepted). As soon as possible after candidate has passed the FireTEAM exam with a total weighted score of 70% or better, candidate will need to schedule a date to take the Forest Park Ability Test, if they haven’t passed it or The Firefighter Mile previously and submitted proof of passage with their application. Testing for the Forest Park Physical Ability Test (WEATHER DEPENDENT) will be held from 8am to 11am on the following dates at the Forest Park Fire Station, 1201 West Kemper Road, in Forest Park Ohio: Saturday, February 28, 2026; Saturday, March 7, 2026. Lateral Firefighter/ Paramedic
Lateral must be currently full-time with a full-time fire department.
Must have a current ( within 1 Year ) Firefighter Mile, Official Cpat or PASS the Forest Park Fire Department Physical Ability Test. See above for Physical Ability Testing.

Base Salary Information: $55,663.46 - $85,923.61
Benefit Information: Excellent benefits including health/dental/group life insurance, paid vacation/sick leave, holiday/merit pay, uniform allowance and tuition refund program. City of Forest Park employees contribute 12.25% of their salary to the Ohio Police & Fire Pension and the City of Forest Park contributes 24%. Accrued sick leave and service time with another public entity in the State of Ohio can be transferred to the City of Forest Park in accordance with City of Forest Park policies.

Candidate must be willing to continue education in firefighting, emergency medicine, and leadership. GENERAL FUNCTIONS:Under general supervision, performs fire suppression/fire prevention duties; assesses, treats acutely ill and injured citizens; performs rescue procedures, operates emergency fire apparatus and emergency medical equipment; performs fire inspections and prevention programs; participates in Fire/EMS training, station and equipment maintenance; and performs related work as required.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Performs and may lead fire suppression duties; deploys fire hose for suppression and water supply; enters fired building, locating, and extinguishing fire; searches for and rescues fire victims. Performs and leads salvage operations; raises and places ladder to preserve property; overhauls fire scene to prevent rekindle. May assist in determining origin and cause of fire; preserves fire scene for investigation. Operates and maintains fire apparatus including pumpers, aerial ladders and ambulances. Performs fire prevention inspections, pre-fire plans on commercial/public facilities; fire prevention educational programs; participates in on-going continuing education programs. Performs emergency medical duties; evaluates sick and injured persons; performs basic, and if certified, advanced pre-hospital care; operates technical medical monitoring equipment; stabilizes and lifts patients; calculates drug dosages; completes evaluation and treatment forms.OTHER DUTIES:Performs equipment inspection, preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment, minor repairs to equipment, vehicles and facilities. May be required to assist in or conduct public education programs in Fire or EMS related subjects, completes records and reports. In addition to these duties, the Firefighter/EMT is required to participate in company-level fire safety inspections. May be assigned responsibility for a project or Area of Responsibility (AOR). In this event, the Firefighter/EMT will be required to plan and implement said project.
