Position Title: Entry Level Firefighter
Eastside Fire & Rescue is currently establishing an Entry Level Firefighter hiring list! All candidates must take the FireTEAM exam through National Testing Network prior to end of day on September 19, 2025.
EF&R will pull scores from all valid NTN tests dated 9/20/2024 – 9/19/2025.
The minimum passing score to be considered for an interview is a weighted score of 80%. The initial invitations to interview will be sent via email to candidates by September 25, 2025. The balance of eligible candidates will receive invitations on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, in order to reach our maximum interview capacity.
The department requires the candidate PHQ. You can access the questionnaire through your candidate account. NTN suggests completing the PHQ as soon as possible so there is not a delay in your process.
Salary Information: $7,097.73 mo. / $85,172.76 annually *Department is currently in contract negotiations

Department Overview:
Eastside Fire & Rescue (EF&R) serves a population of 228,500 across 277 square miles with a team of 287 FTEs. EF&R is comprised of five partner agencies: King County Fire District 10, Fire District 38, and the cities of Sammamish, Issaquah, and North Bend. In addition to its partner agencies, EF&R provides fire & emergency services through contracts with Woodinville Fire & Rescue, the City of Mercer Island, King County Fire District #45 and the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe.
EF&R responds to about 18,000 service calls per year and operates from 16 stations staffed by 249 full-time cross-trained Fire and EMS personnel organized into four battalions.
Six specialty stations provide technical rescue capabilities, including rope rescue, swift water rescue, boat operations, structural collapse, confined space, trench rescue and hazardous materials response.

Necessary Certifications: Valid CPAT prior to Leadership interview (NTN or PST accepted)
Additional Requirements: Ability to complete a pre-employment background check, psychological evaluation, medical physical and drug screening
Hiring Process: All interviews are in person at this time. If staffing allows for a virtual option, it will be communicated on the Screening Interview invite. Virtual Interviews will only be available for the first round.
