Position Title: Police Officer - Recruit

The City of Casa Grande Police Department is hiring for Police Officer - Recruit. All applicants must complete the FrontLine National exam through National Testing Network and complete their application on the City of Casa Grande’s website https://casagrandeaz.gov/human-resources/ to be considered.

All applicants must also complete the Public Safety Self-Assessment (PSSA) and Typing Test located in your National Testing Network candidate profile.

Casa Grande Police Department will cover exam costs for any applicants who reside in Pinal County.

Salary Information: Police Recruit: $24.2334 per hour. After successful completion of the police academy entry level salary $28.4614 per hour.

Job Requirements

Age:
20 years of age and 21 by completion of academy

Citizenship Required:
Yes

Driver's License:
Valid drivers license with the ability to get an AZ license by date of hire.

Vision:
20/20 or better uncorrected; 20/20 or better, corrected by spectacles or hard contact lenses if uncorrected acuity is 20/80 or better. The applicant shall demonstrate satisfactory adaptation to the contact lenses; or 20/20 or better, corrected by soft contact lenses, if the uncorrected acuity is 20/200 or better.

Additional Requirements:

Any combination of training, education or experience, which demonstrates the potential ability to perform the duties of the position including graduation from high school or equivalent

Must have physical strength and agility to perform the duties of the position

Must have the ability to obtain Arizona POST police officer certification; ability to meet department's physical standards

Must be at least 21 years of age

Must be a United States citizen

No felony conviction in the State of Arizona, or conviction for any offense in another state which would be considered a felony if committed in Arizona

No conviction of an offense involving moral turpitude.

Must be able to obtain the appropriate Arizona driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record

Work may involve an element of personal danger and employees must be able to act without direct supervision and exercise independent judgement in meeting emergencies

Must be able to successfully complete Arizona police academy certification program, learn, understand, interpret and apply laws and regulations

Ability to prepare concise and comprehensive written reports and use a computer terminal as it is used in police work along with standard broadcasting procedures of a police radio system

Must be able to gather and evaluate facts and evidence, drawing logical conclusions and make proper recommendations, conduct effective initial and follow-up criminal investigations, effectively process crime scenes and interrogate suspects

Must be able to develop skill in the use of firearms and follow oral and written directions

Hiring Process:
Applicants will take the test through NTN and once completed, the department will select those who scored 70% or higher on the test for a Physical Agility Test. Requirements of the physical agility test are 1 ½ mile run in 14 minutes and 54 seconds, 27 push ups and 29 sit-ups in one minute. Once this is completed, applicants will be invited to an Oral Board with a panel and if they pass the Oral Board, they will then go to a Command Interview. If the candidate passes the Command Interview, they will then begin the background process.

Drug Usage:
Applicants must meet AZ POST Standards regarding drug use and criminal activity

Training:
Applicants that are selected and pass background and then hired, will have to attend the Police Academy that is roughly 18 weeks long.
