Position Title: Police Officer

The Village of Hanover Park Police Department in Hanover Park, IL is currently hiring. All candidates must complete the FrontLine National exam through National Testing Network.

Salary Information: Starting pay is $78,977.60 per year

Job Requirements

Age:
At least 20 years of age at the time of the written exam and shall be under 35 years of age at the time of the written exam, a veteran is allowed to exceed the maximum age provision by the number of years served on active military duty, but by no more than 10 years of active military duty. Additional exceptions are listed in (65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6) (from Ch. 24, par. 10-2.1-6) on the Illinois General Assembly website.

College:
Completion of an Associate’s degree or 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of college credit from an accredited degree granting college or university as listed in the current edition of Accredited Institutions of Post-secondary Education published by the American Council on Education (courses from a trade school and/or technical school are not applicable toward the required college credit) OR 24 months of honorable active duty in the United States Armed Forces and have not been discharged dishonorably or under circumstances other than honorable or have served for 180 days of active duty in the United States Armed Forces in combat duty recognized by the Department of Defense and have not been discharged dishonorably or under circumstances other than honorable, OR the equivalent of both; plus certification of training by an accredited school of law enforcement in the State of Illinois within six months of the date of initial employment.

Necessary Certifications:
Must possess the following certifications and/or licenses: Valid Driver’s License and the ability to obtain a firearm/weapon license

Additional Requirements:
English/ Spanish fluency a plus

Hiring Process:

Completion and submission of an application

Completion and submission of the National Testing Network written exam with a passing score

Oral interview

Background investigation

Polygraph exam

Candidates receiving a conditional job offer will be required to pass a psychological exam and medical exam, including a drug screening

Minimum Requirements:

At least 20 years of age and have not reached your 35th birthday by the date the written exam is completed (see the Illinois General Assembly Public Act 097-0251 for exceptions).
An Associate’s Degree, or 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of college credit, OR proof of 2 years of active honorable military service OR proof of 180 days of active honorable combat duty in the military service, OR an equivalent of education and military service.
Valid Driver’s License in good standing
Valid P.O.W.E.R. (Illinois Peace Officer Wellness Evaluation Report) card issued within the past 365 days.
No felony convictions and good moral character
35-mile residency requirement after one year of hire
