Job Classification: Career Firefighter-EMT

The department is developing an ongoing eligibility list. Candidates on the list are eligible for 12 months and are considered for any opening during that time. Agency will pull scores at unspecified intervals. Candidates are required to complete the following to be considered for the position and receive an invitation to continue the process:

National Testing Network's FireTEAM exam
A valid CPAT (accepted from either NTN or PST that has been completed within the last 12 months is required).

Salary Information: $ 7052/month Step 1 FF/EMT in 2024.

WTRFA delivers comprehensive emergency services including Fire suppression, Rescue, EMS and BLS patient transport from 4-5 staffed stations. Services are delivered by a combination of career and volunteer public service professionals. We average over 3000 911 service calls per year.

Area Information: WTRFA is located in the south Puget Sound region, situated between Olympia and Centralia. The 158 square mile service area is mixed use residential urban growth, suburban, rural, commercial, light industrial and forest land. The WTRFA service area is bisected by 12 miles of Interstate

Residents enjoy the small-town environment, mild climate and wide variety of recreation year-round. The local area is robust with quality schools, parks, trails, history and many other attractions.

Specific Disqualifiers/Behaviors:
Disqualifiers: Candidates must pass a criminal background investigation
Driving Disqualifiers: Candidates must pass a driving record evaluation
Drug Use Disqualifiers: Candidates must pass drug screening.
Employment Disqualifiers: Lying or falsifying documents during any stage of the hiring process. Dishonorable discharge from United States armed forces.

Position Detail:
The successful candidate may work 24 hours on, 48 hours off with a paid Kelly day every 21 days.
