Salary Information: $5189 - $6759 monthly depending on education and qualifications.

Ability to react quickly and calmly under emergency conditions. Ability to operate an automobile and other specialized equipment in the performance of duties. Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and in making decisions.Hiring Process:After successful completion with passing scores through NTN, we will contact applicants for oral board interview. Applicants selected to continue will fill out a background packet to complete and return to the Aumsville Police Department. Successful background applicants will then be sent to a psychological evaluation. A Chief’s interview will follow along with a medical exam and drug screening. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:Works on rotating shifts performing security patrols, traffic control, investigations and first aid at accidents, detection, investigation, and arrest of persons involved in crimes or misconduct. Patrols City streets, parks, commercial and residential areas to preserve the peace and enforce the law, control vehicular traffic, prevent or detect and investigate misconduct involving misdemeanors, felonies, and other law violations and to otherwise serve and protect. Interrogates/interviews suspects, witnesses, and drivers. Preserves evidence. Makes arrests for violations of laws and ordinances; serves writs, warrants, and subpoenas. Investigates and renders assistance at the scene of vehicular accidents. Summons ambulance and other law enforcement vehicles. Takes photographs and measurements and draws diagrams of crime and accident scenes. Processes crime scenes.Checks parking violations, issues citation for moving and non-moving violations in traffic patrol, including city ordinances.Maintains contact with police supervisory personnel to coordinate investigation activities, provide mutual assistance during emergency situations and provides general information about Department activities. Participates in departmental meeting and attends in-service training classes and school.Directs traffic and patrols area for parades, athletic events, fires and/or other occasions of a special or emergency nature.Appears in court and presents evidence and testimony against alleged law violators.Receives complaints or requests from the public, takes telephone or radio calls and relays information to patrol car and other law enforcement agencies. Coordinates activities with other officers or other departments as needed, maintains effective working relationships between co-workers, exchanges information with officers in other law enforcement agencies, and obtains advice from the City Attorney and District Attorney’s Office regarding cases, policies, and procedures, as needed and assigned. Conducts follow-up investigations of crimes. Seeks out and questions victims, witnesses, and suspects. Develops leads and tips. Searches scene of crime for clues. Gathers, preserves, analyzes, and evaluates evidence. Arrests offenders and fingerprints, photographs, books, and lodges them in accordance with department policy and state law. Prepares cases for presentation in court and testifies in court and grand jury proceedings. Prepares a variety of reports and records including officer’s Daily Log, reports of investigation, field interrogation report, alcohol reports, influence reports, breathalyzer check list, bad check form, vehicle impoundment form, and others as needed. Conducts follow-up investigations and re-contacts persons as required. Maintains general files of the department as required.Renders assistance to the public when any citizen is in distress.Maintains the laws of confidentiality.
