Position Title: Police Officer- Recruit or Lateral

Prineville Police Department is currently hiring for Recruit and Lateral Police Officer. This recruitment will be used to fill vacancies and to establish a list for upcoming openings. The eligibility list may be cancelled at any time, at the discretion of the City.

Candidates must complete the FrontLine National exam through National Testing Network. Candidates must complete the Public Safety Self-Assessment (PSSA) and the Typing Test located in your candidate profile on National Testing Network.

A valid ORPAT score is required for recruit & lateral positions prior to job offer. Candidates have the option to complete the ORPAT through National Testing Network or with the Prineville Police Department.

Sick time cash out program up to 1200 hours. Additional 8.7 hours of pay a month while working 12 hour shifts. Yearly Comp Time cash out up to 80 hours. Resident take home cars. No cost private 24 hour gym access. Pitman schedule (12 hour shifts and every other 3 day weekend off). 3.5% Incentive pay for Field Training Assignment. 2.5% Incentive pay for passing ORPAT. 3.5% Incentive pay for Longevity. 5% Incentive pay for DPSST Intermediate Certification. 10% Incentive pay for DPSST Advanced Certification. 5% Incentive pay for Bi-Lingual.

Recruit applicants are not required to have any police certification.

Lateral

Out of State Lateral Police Officer Certifications must be accepted by DPSST to be considered a Lateral Hire.

Out of state candidates must be able to obtain Police certification through DPSST without having to attend the 16 week police academy. Contact DPSST to inquire if you’re unsure.

Additional Lateral Requirements

In State Lateral Applicants that are currently employed, must be in good standing, and have completed the DPSST Police Academy.

In State Lateral Applicants that are not currently employed, must have left their agency in good standing, and be within five years of employment as an officer.

Hiring Process:
All qualified candidates for the recruit posting must successfully pass the National Testing Network (NTN) Front Line National Test and submit valid test results through NTN’s website. Applicants must also fill out and submit an application through The City of Prineville’s website https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/cityofprineville Successful candidates will be scheduled for in person, or web based interviews. The Oregon Physical Agility Test (ORPAT) must be taken and passed within the previous 12 months. A passing score of 5:30 or less is required, and it must be submitted prior to any conditional offer of employment. If necessary, ORPAT can be set up and administered locally on or around the scheduled date of interviews. Selected candidates will be given a tentative job offer and assigned a background investigator. Those successful in background will be scheduled for a Chief’s interview. If you’re selected by the Chief, you will receive a formal job offer contingent on passing a psychological evaluation, physical, and drug test.
