Position Title: Firefighter/ EMT

South Thurston Fire & EMS is currently hiring for Firefigther/ EMT. All candidates must take the FireTEAM exam through National Testing Network.

All candidates must complete the Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ) located in your candidate profile on National Testing Network.

Job Classification: South Thurston Fire & EMS is seeking highly motivated candidates that are interested in being selected for one full-time Firefighter/EMT position. Eligible candidates will be placed on an eligibility list for a period of 1 year with the option to extend. Applicants must be selfmotivated and able to work efficiently with minimal supervision. The prospective candidates will be evaluated based on many aspects including education, training, physician’s examination, written test, and interview. Starting Salary is $72,605.70 - $88,695.60 depending on experience. Benefits include an employee benefit package and LEOFF II retirement.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school Diploma or Equivalent
At least 21 years of age
Completion of an accredited recruit academy, in addition to having two years of experience as a volunteer firefighter.
Valid Washington State driver’s license (by hire date).
Driving record consistent with requirements of District insurance carrier.
Obtain Thurston County Medic One Protocol within 90 days of hire
IFSAC Firefighter I certification or obtain within one year
Washington State EMT-B certification
Obtain Thurston County Medic One Protocol or obtain within 45 days of hire.
NWCG Certified (red card) Wildland FFII or obtain certification within one year of hire.
Applicants must possess and provide a certified CPAT from PST(Public Safety Testing) or NTN(National Testing Network) taken within the last 12 months of application deadline. If you do not have a current certified CPAT, you will undergo the departments physical agility test.

Hiring Process:
Written, physical agility (if needed), assessment center, interview.

Disqualifiers:

Any felony charges
All other infractions will be looked at on a case to case scenario

Hours of Employment:
This position shall be scheduled to work the 48-96 Work Schedule, 2 days on, 4 days off. Each shift is a 24-hour shift and shall not be scheduled more than 182 hours in a 24-day work period with one 10-hour Kelly day. Hours of work for this Kelly day will be 1700 until 0700 the following day.
