Job Classification: Full-Time Police Officer
The Beavercreek Police Department is currently hiring for a Full-Time Police Officer. Accepting certified and non-certified applicants. Applicants who are not certified as a law enforcement officer through the State of Ohio or certified applicants who have less than one year of service as a full-time law enforcement officer must take the FrontLine National exam through National Testing Network.
Note: Patrol schedule changing to 10-hr. rotating work day in January 2025
Anticipated wages beginning January 2025
Salary Information: Starting salary range for certified Police Officer based on experience and relative to the current Collective Bargaining Agreement is $35.30/hr. ($73,424) to $52.00/hr. ($108,160), progressing incrementally. Candidates who are not certified will be hired as a Police Recruit with a salary of $26.48/hr. ($55,078) while attending the police academy. After successfully completing the Academy and State certification process, the Police Recruit will be sworn in as a Police Officer at the starting pay of $35.30/hr. Salary ranges are subject to change based upon the most current Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City and FOP 160.

Applications will be reviewed for eligibility, qualifications, completeness and thoroughness. Any applicant packet that does not contain the correct documents or is incomplete may be rejected. The applicant will also be pre-screened for any possible disqualifiers listed in BPD General Order 31.4.1. Any occurrences or incidents may result in disqualification from the process.The City of Beavercreek Police Department will continually accept applications for police officer. After an applicant has passed the initial pre-screening phase, he/she must obtain a minimum score of 70% on the written test in order to be scheduled for the remaining steps in the process.See the process below for testing requirements depending on your certification status.Written TestAll applicants who are not certified in the State of Ohio or certified applicants who have less than one year of service as a full-time law enforcement officer must successfully complete a written test through the National Testing Network, Inc. (minimum score of 70%.) All Applicants will be ranked based on their final combined score using the Video and PSSA components of the exam. To schedule a test, go to www.nationaltestingnetwork.com, select Law Enforcement and sign-up for the Beavercreek Police Department. All applicants who take the test will be notified of their individual results. Applicants obtaining the minimum required score will be scheduled for the Physical Fitness Test. Physical Fitness TestOnly Non-Certified applicants must successfully complete a physical fitness assessment. The time and location for the physical fitness assessment will be provided after the application and written test phases have been completed. Applicants will be required to sign a waiver in order to participate in the fitness assessment. Testing will consist of push-ups, sit-ups, and a 1.5 mile as required by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission. Passing benchmarks will be the 30% level of the Cooper Standards based on the applicant’s age and sex. This test will be pass/fail and does not contribute to the overall ranking list. Applicants who are certified in the State of Ohio with more than one year of service as a full-time law enforcement officer (must not have been out of active law enforcement status for more than two years) are not required to complete the written test or physical fitness assessment to be considered for employment. These applicants will immediately proceed to the structured interview board.If appointed, prior law-enforcement service will be taken into consideration toward starting pay and leave benefits. Structured Interview BoardThis board will interview all certified applicants with more than one year of service as a full-time law enforcement officer and non-certified applicants that achieve at least 70% on the written test and pass the Physical Fitness Test. Applicants must attain a score of 70% or higher on the interview to be placed on the eligibility list and potentially advance to the remaining phases of the process.
