Salary Information:

Patrol Officer base pay in 2026 is $94,400 + Bonuses and overtime (base pay is reached at the conclusion of 2 years in service)

Patrol Officer Trainee (13-24 months)* $40.81 $42.44 $43.50

TATTOO POLICY

Tattoos or any body art will not be placed on any part of the body that cannot be covered by a standard long sleeve uniform.

Officers will not have or place any tattoo/body art on the following body parts:

the facial area
the scalp
the neck
the hands and fingers

At no time while the member is on-duty or representing the Department in any official capacity, shall display any tattoo or have any body art visible that contains, promotes any offensive material or theme.

This includes but is not limited to the following:

promotion or advocation of discrimination
exhibit gang, supremacist, or extremist group affiliation
that promote or depict drug use
promotion or advocation violence
that display sexually explicit acts or other obscene material
any profanity

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Canidates are required to completer the Public Safety Self Assessments (PSSAs) - located in your candidate profile of the National Testing Network.
Complete the Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ) - located in your candidate profile of the National Testing Network.
A valid Physical Fitness Test Certificate from Cuyahoga Community College. If not already completed then it will need to be taken within 3 months of the closing test date and prior to appointment. HIRING PROCESS:

1) NTN Competitive Exam
2) Preliminary review of top 20 candidates
3) Calculation of any applicable bonus points
4) Establish “certified eligibility” list of no more than twenty (20) candidates
5) Select candidates notified of eligibility and pertinent instructions
6) Successful completion of Tri-C physical agility test (if not completed)
7) Background check
8) Initial interview
9) Polygraph & Psychological
10) Secondary interview
11) Final interview (Safety Director)
12) Conditional offer of employment
13) Drug screen & pension medical physical (OH P&F)

BONUS POINTS:

- Military Honorable Discharge (DD214) 5 points

- Current OPOTA certificate 5 points
