Summary

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is hiring experienced police officers from across the State of Ohio for full-time Patrol Section positions. Our agency is progressive and we practice evidence and research-based policing strategies to reduce crime and control disorder. Job Requirements

Requirements (Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification):

Valid and active Ohio (OPOTA) Peace Officer Certification with currently no more than 1 year break in service; OSHP troopers are welcome to apply
College degree preferred
Must possess a valid driver's license.

Job Duties (Summary):

Patrols County areas as assigned conducting patrol activities by protecting life and property of citizens, enforcing State motor vehicle laws and criminal laws; maintains high visibility and is alert to criminal activities per information furnished by radio communication, observation and other sources.
Conducts proactive patrol, increases crime prevention awareness within his or her patrol area and regularly develops contact with citizens.
Prepares and submits electronic reports pertaining to crimes, incidents, activities and other violations.
Responds as directed to scenes of traffic accidents; keeps bystanders out of danger; safeguards property as required; gives assistance to injured persons as required; investigates conditions and the cause of the accident.
Pursues and apprehends violators of traffic and criminal law.
Performs investigations and prepares reports on crimes and complaints to which assigned.
May appear and testify in court on traffic, criminal or civil cases.
As assigned, safeguards crime scenes and preserves physical evidence relating to various crimes.
Performs related duties as required and assigned

Knowledge Of:

Departmental policies and procedures; Federal, State and local laws; law enforcement practices and procedures; safety and security practices and procedures; public relations; court processes and procedures.

Skill in :

Safe operation of a motor vehicle; use of firearms.
Report writing and communication
