Department Overview:
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOINGAs an Emergency Services Dispatcher 2, you will be responsible for supervision of subordinate dispatch personnel. You will provide and oversee training and plan work assignments. This position requires full knowledge and ability to perform all duties of subordinates which includes the support of field enforcement units to carry out their responsibilities and the statutory responsibilities of the Department of Public Safety. Emergency Services Dispatchers with the Department of Public Safety provide both emergency and non-emergency dispatching and communications services for State and local law enforcement agencies, fire departments, emergency medical services, and the public to minimize the loss of life and property.OUR ORGANIZATION, MISSION, AND CULTUREThe Department of Public Safety (DPS) strives to preserve the peace, enforce the law, prevent and detect crime, and protect life and property. As an Emergency Services Dispatcher 2, you would be instrumental in ensuring this mission is met by providing direct support for law enforcement activities. The work environment is fast-paced – we answer more than 135,000 calls per year.
