Position Title: Firefighter Recruit
The City of Tolleson is currently hiring and establishing an eligibility list for the Recruit Firefighter position.
Candidates are required to complete NTN's FireTEAM exam, submit the department application, and send the supplemental information to be considered for the position.

Salary Information:
$25.34 Hourly ($52,716.77 annually in academy - upon graduation $58,606.38 annually)

A high school diploma or GED must be at least 18 years of age, current CPAT within twelve (12) months of the written test, Valid Arizona Driver's license with no significant citations within the past 36 months before the start date, a valid certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic with the State of Arizona. Candidates that do not possess a certificate as an EMT or certification as a Paramedic in Arizona must be in the national registry for reciprocity. Candidates not in the national registry must retake certifications to be registered in Arizona by the hire date. Candidates must complete an application and National Testing Network examination.
Additional Requirements:Candidates that do not possess a certification as an EMT or certification as a Paramedic in the state of Arizona must be in the national registry for reciprocity. 1) Copy of a three (3) year driving history report from MVD
2) Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic certification
3) Proof of CPAT within the last twelve (12) months
4) an Arizona driver's license. Candidates that do not possess a valid Arizona driver's license must obtain one within one (1) month of the hire date.
Testing Information
This hiring process includes the following steps:
1) Complete a City of Tolleson application
2) Complete online testing through the National Testing Network
3) Participate in an interview
4) Undergo a recruit practical assessment
5) Go through the selection process
The projected academy start date is September 2025.
Working Conditions:Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Very Heavy Work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, blood and other bodily fluids, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, work space restrictions, intense noises, travel and environmental conditions such as disruptive people, imminent danger, and a threatening environment.
