Position Title: Firefighter (Lateral)
The City of Tolleson is offering a $8,000 hiring bonus to qualified lateral firefighters. Fifty percent (50%) of the bonus will be paid upon hire, with the remaining fifty percent (50%) awarded after successful completion of the City's introductory probationary training period. Candidates must commit to a minimum of three (3) years of service.
Candidates are required to complete NTN's FireTEAM exam, submit the department application, and send the supplemental information to be considered for the position.

Full Salary Range for Position: $20.13 - $28.18 Hourly

High school diploma or GED, two (2) years prior experience as a full-time sworn firefighter. Must possess certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and a Arizona driver's license. Certification as a Paramedic with the State of Arizona preferred. Applicants with out of state Paramedic certifications must have Arizona reciprocity prior to accepting an offer. Applicants who have not completed a Regional Training Academy within the last 5 years must attend a 6-week bridge academy.

Supplemental information will be required for the application to be considered. To be considered, applicants must provide a copy of the following by email to er@tolleson.az.gov .
1) Copy of a three (3) year driving history report from MVD;
2) Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic certification
3) Proof of Regional Academy Training within the last five (5) years and Proof of CPAT within last twelve (12) months.
4) Arizona driver's license. Candidates that do not possess a valid Arizona driver's license must obtain one within one (1) month of the date of hire.
5) Applicants with out of state Paramedic certifications must have Arizona reciprocity prior to accepting an offer.
Testing Information
This hiring process includes the following steps:
1) Complete a City of Tolleson application
2) Complete online testing through the National Testing Network
3) Participate in an interview
4) Undergo a recruit practical assessment
5) Go through the selection process
Must be willing to work various shifts (48, 96 schedule), including weekends and holidays; Must be capable of functioning in high stress situations to include temperature extremes, above and below grade rescue situations, medical emergencies, hazardous materials incidents, residential, commercial, and other fires as appropriate. Working Conditions:Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Very Heavy Work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, blood and other bodily fluids, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, work space restrictions, intense noises, travel and environmental conditions such as disruptive people, imminent danger, and a threatening environment.
