Position Title: Police Recruit and Police Officer

The Town of Wickenburg is currently accepting applications for Police Recruit and Police Officer.

Salary Information:

Recruit Officer: $27.94 per hour
Police Officer/Lateral: $30.37 - $36.44 per hour, depending on qualifications (DOQ) and depending on experience (DOE)

Department Overview: The Wickenburg Police Department is dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of our vibrant community in Wickenburg, Arizona. With a strong emphasis on community policing, our officers build trusted relationships with residents through outreach programs and engagement initiatives.

The department serves over 26 square miles within the Town limits and regularly assists other agencies in the surrounding area. Our responsibilities include law enforcement, emergency response, traffic safety, and crime prevention. We prioritize education and collaboration with local organizations and neighboring agencies to enhance public safety. STEP 1 | National Testing Network Registration & Test

Register, Schedule and Complete Testing with National Testing Network (NTN):
- Visit National Testing Network.
- Select Find Jobs → Law Enforcement Jobs → Sign up for Wickenburg, Town of Police.
  Schedule your test through the NTN website. (Scores are automatically forwarded to the Wickenburg Police Department.)
- Complete the Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ).
- Complete the Public Safety Self-Assessment.

STEP 2 | Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (AZPOST) Application

Create an account at AZPOST.
Complete the application and share it with Wickenburg PD.

STEP 3 | Town of Wickenburg Application

Town of Wickenburg Application:
- Complete the online application at Government Jobs – Wickenburg AZ.
Supporting Documents (required):
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Proof of Citizenship (e.g., birth certificate).
- Form DD 214 (military personnel only).
- Provide AZPOST Form ID number with your Town of Wickenburg application.
- AZPOST Certification (certified officers only).

STEP 4 | Physical Testing

Non-Certified Applicants (Cooper Test):
- 1.5 Mile Run: 14:40 or less.
- Sit-Ups: Minimum 34 in one minute.
- Push-Ups: Minimum 31 in one minute.
Certified Applicants (POPAT Test):
- 99-Yard Obstacle Course, Body Drag, Chain-Link Fence Climb, Solid Fence Climb, and 500-Yard Run.
- Must score 384+ (aggregate) to pass.
Retesting Policy:
- Failed once: Retest within 0–6 months.
- Failed twice: Wait six months before retesting.

STEP 5 | Oral Board Interview

Most qualified applicants will be invited to an Oral Board Interview.

STEP 6 | Background Interview & Investigation

Successful candidates will undergo a background investigation.
A background investigator will contact candidates to schedule an interview.
The background process continues throughout the hiring period.

STEP 7 | Polygraph Examination

A trained examiner will administer a polygraph to confirm background information.

STEP 8 | Psychological Evaluation

Applicants will be evaluated by a licensed psychologist.

STEP 9 | Medical Examination

Conducted by an AZPOST-certified physician.

Step 10 | Final Staff Review & Offer

Upon completing all steps, candidates may receive a Final Offer of Employment from the Chief of Police.

Timeline: The process takes 3–5 months on average but can vary.
Application Validity: Applications are valid for one year.
Notifications:
- Candidates no longer under consideration will be notified.
- If no notification is received, candidates are still being considered.
Process Modifications: Steps may occur in a different order or be omitted based on departmental needs.
Schedule: The department offers a desirable 2-week schedule, which allows every officer to have every other weekend off. The schedule is 84 hours per 2-weeks, 12 hr. shifts.
