The City of Madras offers full testing services for the position of Entry Level Police Officer through National Testing Network (NTN). To register with NTN and schedule a test, go to www.nationaltestingnetwork.com, select ‘Find Jobs’, then select Law Enforcement Jobs and sign up for the City of Madras.

Upon completion of your scheduled exam, scores are automatically forwarded to the City of Madras. Candidates who attain a passing score on the entry level exam will be placed on City of Madras’ eligibility list. The City of Madras will contact candidates on the list and will invite them to participate in further stages of the selection process.
National Testing Network is a service provided to conduct entry level testing in a standardized, professional environment. National Testing Network does not replace the City of Madras’ responsibility and decision making in the testing process. All candidate results are provided to the City of Madras where the final decisions are made.
To be considered for this position, applicants must have a complete application that includes all of the following items:
* Please note we consider a score of 70% or higher in all three categories passing. You will also need to achieve a 5:30 time on your ORPAT test. Madras PD can help you schedule your ORPAT test if you have not taken this test.
Applicants must provide certification that they are a veteran or disabled veteran to receive veteran's preference.
Benefits Include:
Sick leave accrues on a monthly basis at a rate of eight (8) hours per each month worked.
Madras Police Employees Association contract available upon request by calling 541-325-0312. Current collective bargaining agreement is effective 2022 – 2025.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEPossess a high school diploma or GED certificate. 21 or over, must have valid local driver's license. DPSST Basic Certificate upon hire or within the probationary period.
Prior law enforcement and/or college degree in related field preferred; OR any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Any combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties of this position. Other equivalent combinations of education, training or have served in the military with an Honorable Discharge or any equivalent combination of Law Enforcement work experience will be considered.

The position requires:
FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - The duties listed are intended only as examples of the various types of work that may be performed by individuals in this job classification. Nature of Work:
This position performs law enforcement and crime prevention duties including patrol and investigations. Enforces federal, state, and local laws, regulations, ordinances, and codes. Must be willing to work 8, 10 or 12-hour shift assignments. Officers must be willing to workday shift, swing shift or graveyard shift assignments including weekends and holidays. While performing the duties of this job, the employee works outside in all weather conditions and may work in precarious places, with firearms and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, blood borne or airborne pathogens, extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration. Physical exertion is required to climb stairs, go over walls, run, move heavy objects, crawl through tight spaces, kneel in confined areas and sit for a long period of time during surveillance. Physical effort is required to lift materials, equipment, and persons exceeding 75 lbs, and subdue combative persons.
