Position Title: Full Time Police Officer
The City of Eastlake is currently accepting applications for its Full Time Police Officer Recruitment. The posting will remain open until filled. An initial Civil Service list will be established to include all applications received by 11:59 pm on 12/6/2024. Subsequent Civil Service lists for open positions will require a minimum of 5 applicants.
Salary Information: 2024 Training Rate $30.33 / Top rate after 3 Years, $42.09 (Current contract through 2025)
*Prior LE experience considered for higher starting step

Department Overview :
Serving a population of just over 18,000 residents in Lake County, Ohio the Eastlake Police Department is a growing agency offering 12-hour patrol schedules and flexibility to allow for wide ranging in-service and professional training, and a future that includes advancement opportunities. Our officers participate in a number of specialized units, to include ERT, CNT, EOD, US Marshalls Task Force, Crash Reconstruction, and more. Great community support allows our officers to give back, engaging in community programs like Shop with a Cop and our annual Trunk-or-Treat event, among others.
Age : Per the Codified Ordinances of the City of Eastlake 131.13, the age requirement for an original appointment to the Police Division shall be limited to persons between the ages of twenty-one and forty-four years, inclusive. However, the commission may grant an age waiver* for service transferable to the Ohio Police and Fire Pension System if the applicant will obtain 30 years of service by age 65. *Documentation for an age waiver must be submitted at the time of application, for consideration.
Citizenship Required: Required - Must submit Birth Certificate/Naturalization through NTN at the time your application is submitted
High School Grad/GED: Required - Must submit documentation through NTN at the time your application is submitted
Valid OHIO Driver's License: Valid Ohio driver's license at time of appointment - Must submit copy of driver’s license through NTN at the time your application is submitted
Ability to Read/Speak English: Required
College: Not Required
Academy Certification: Preferred but not required
Prior Experience: Not Required
Hiring Process to include:
· NTN Test
· Civil Service certification and calculation of additional points
· Comprehensive Background Investigation
· Voice Stress Analysis
· Oral Interview
· Psychological and Medical evaluations
· Tri-C Agility test or have graduated from the Basic Police Academy within one year prior to appointment
Preference Points — Upon achievement of a comprehensive passing score of 70%, Not to exceed 20% combined
Military Service – With Honorable Discharge Only – Must submit DD214 through NTN at the time your application is submitted
· 10% - 4 full years of service completed
· 5% - 2 full years of service completed
College Degree - Must submit Diploma or Transcripts with degree conferred through NTN at the time your application is submitted
· 10% - BA/BS in Criminal Justice or related field
· 5% - BA/BS non-CJ, or Associates in CJ or related field
· 2.5% - Associates Degree non-CJ
*Credit only awarded for one degree of higher education
OPOTA Certification - 5% - Must submit copy of OPOTA Certificate or OPOTA Letter of Academy Completion through NTN at the time your application is submitted
Prior LE Experience - Must submit official documentation of dates of service through NTN at the time your application is submitted
· 10% - 4+ years continuous full-time service with no current break in service
· 5% - 1-4 years continuous full-time service with no current break in service
· 1% - each 12-month period as Special Officer for Eastlake PD - max of 5%
**Documentation not submitted through NTN at the time your application is submitted will not be considered for preference points
***Failure to submit any of the required documentation will be grounds for disqualification
