Position Title: Full-Time Police Officer
Mentor on the Lake Police Department is hiring for the position of Police Officer. Candidates are required to complete the following by December 29, 2025, to be considered for the position:
Salary Information: Starting Pay: $74,048- After Training: $78,728
Benefit Information: Competitive pay, annual salary increases, yearly uniform allowance + uniform maintenance allowance, degree pay, medical, dental and vision benefits, retirement plan, deferred comp plan. This is a collective bargaining position.
Department Overview: Mentor-on-the-Lake is a small vibrant bedroom community. The City has strong successful businesses and is located in a beautiful area with an active, cohesive residential base.

Additional Requirements : Written exam passing grade of an overall score of 70% or better.
Hiring Process : Must participate in written exam, physical agility test, background investigation, polygraph examination, medical examination, psychological test, drug screening, and oral interview.
Essential Competencies : Knowledge of police safety practices; police procedures and techniques; interviewing; basic first aid techniques; investigation procedures and techniques; reporting procedures, and state and federal laws and regulations. Skill in the operation of police equipment, motor vehicles and firearms. Ability to demonstrate physical fitness and agility; handle sensitive contacts with public and government officials; verbally present evidence in legal proceedings; gather, collate and classify information about people, places or things; read and understand technical material relating to police work; compose clear, concise and complete police reports; recognize threatening or unusual conditions and take appropriate action; act quickly and calmly in an emergency; exercise firmness with tact and objectivity.
Work Schedule : 12-Hour shifts including overnight and weekends. Works outside exposed to inclement weather; subject to call-in emergency situations; exposed to unpredictable client behavior and other law enforcement hazards.
