The City of Sandy seeks candidates for the position of police officer. Those with a demonstrated record of exemplary service in public safety (or policing) are strongly encouraged to apply. DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:
Sandy continues to be one of the fastest growing cities in Oregon year after year with approximately 13,500 people residing within city limits and an outlying service area of approximately 45,000 people. Sandy is nestled in the foothills of the Cascade Mountain Range. It's prime location allows for easy access to Mt. Hood, Columbia River Gorge, Pacific Ocean, and Central Oregon. Amenities and activities such as winter sports, beach combing, camping, wind surfing, hiking, biking, fishing, hunting, and kayaking are all a short trip away. Sandy's quality of life brings small town living in close proximity to attractions found in the larger metro area.
All Recruit candidates must complete FrontLine National exam PRIOR to applying on-line with the City. ORPAT can be complete further in the process.
Lateral Definition: For the purposes of application, a lateral is someone who has successfully passed the DPSST Basic Academy, or equivalent, in the past 5 years prior to application.
For puposes of hiring preference, a lateral is some who has has passed the DPSST Basic Academy and achieved solo officer status with their current department, or a department they have left in the past 5 years prior to application.
Laterals are not required to complete the NTN's Frontline National Exam but may be asked to perform a physical test prior to a condtional offer.

Age : Must 21 and over
Citizenship Required : Must be a US Citizen, or actively becoming a US Citizen, or actively becoming a US Citizen within the next 18 months
High School Grad/GED : Yes, A high school diploma, GED, or its equivalent is required.
Valid OREGON Driver's License : Yes. Possess and maintain, in good standing a valid Oregon Driver’s Licensees
Ability to Read/Speak English : Yes
Vision : DPSST standard: Visual acuity corrected to 20/20, possess normal color discrimination and peripheral vision
Salary Information: $34.22 - 40.69 plus incentives - Currently heading into negotiations
