Salary Information: $63,273.60 - $83,678.40; Lateral applicants with an OPOTA certification may start at steps for years of service credit.

Department Overview: A career with the Tipp City Police Department offers an excellent opportunity to grow with one of the most modern and progressive Police Departments in the area. Tipp City is a thriving community in Southwest Ohio. Tipp City Police Department is staffed with 23 well-trained law enforcement officers that are service oriented to serve the community. Officers assigned to patrol work 12-hour schedules with every other weekend off. Residency is required within Miami County or any adjacent county. If not in an adjacent county, the residency requirement is 35 nautical miles from the city.

Necessary Certifications:
Written Examination:
Applicants must receive a passing score of 70% or better on the law enforcement written examination. An applicant who receives a grade below 70% is not eligible for hire.
National Testing Networks administers the written examination. To register for the written examination, go to www.nationaltestingnetwork.com. The closest testing location is Edison Community College, 1973 Edison Drive East Hall, Room 456 Piqua, Ohio 45356.
A complete list of locations and examination dates and times are available through www.nationaltestingnetwork.com. Applicants are responsible for paying the written examination fee, including any fees associated with sending the test results to the City of Tipp City.
Veteran's Credit:
An applicant who is a veteran of U.S. military service (as defined by Ohio law) and who receives a passing score on the written examination is eligible for an additional credit of 5% of the applicant's total grade. A DD214 must be attached to the application.
Educational Credit:
An applicant who is a graduate of an accredited higher learning institution and who receives a passing score on the written examination is eligible for an additional credit of 5% of the applicant's total grade. A copy of the diploma must be attached to the application.
OPOTA Certified Credit:
An applicant who holds a commission with OPOTA and completed an OPOTA-accredited academy and who receives a passing score on the written examination is eligible for an additional credit of 5% of the applicant's total grade. A copy of the OPOTA certificate must be attached to the application.
