Department Overview
Our team protects the lives and property of the citizens and visitors of Desoto County by providing the highest level of service in Fire Suppression, Fire Prevention Education, Emergency Medical Services, Rescue, and Incident Mitigation. County is served by 3 stations comprised of 17 personnel per shift, 51 personnel in total, with a total of 10 administrative positions. Shift personnel adhere to a 24 hour on, 48 hour off schedule.

Necessary Certifications: Florida Firefighter Minimum Standards, Florida EMT Certification, Florida Paramedic Certification, BLS Certification, ACLS Certification
Additional Requirements: DD-214 If Applicable, 16 Hour EVOC, Certified Copy of Driving Record - Minimum 3 Years, Any other certificates applicable to hire.
Hiring Process: After successful completion of the NTN Fire Team written portion, candidates will be invited to complete a department administered written test, as well as a department practical exam. Successful candidates will then be offered a board interview if test scores permit.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS
Possess a valid Class "E" Florida Driver's License; State of Florida Firefighter Certification as authorized by F.S.S. 633; Advanced Cardiac Life Support; State of Florida Paramedic Certification. Will accept EMT/Firefighter that will be Paramedic certified within two years from date of hire.
