About the Stockton Police DepartmentA career at SPD offers a variety of dynamic opportunities. Serving California’s eleventh-largest city, SPD officers work to protect and engage Stockton’s diverse population. Known for its robust training programs, SPD equips officers to independently manage responsibilities, including public safety, crime prevention, and law enforcement. SPD officers work a four-day, ten-hour shift and can join specialized units such as Air Support, Crisis Negotiations Team, Bomb Squad, Canine Unit, SWAT, Motors, and Mobile Field Force.
Job Requirements
Additional Requirements: Successful candidates will undergo a thorough background investigation, computer voice stress analysis (CVSA) and psychological assessments, and California DOJ fingerprint clearance. Candidates must be free from any conditions, biases, or impairments affecting their capacity to serve as peace officers.
