Duties include protecting lives and property by performing basic and advanced life suport, firefighting, technical rescue and hazardous material responses. Other duties include maintaing emergency and rescue equipment, appartus and facilites.
Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent and speak, read and write the English language fluently. Must be between ages 18-35. All eligible candidates must complete and pass CVSA (polygraph) test, psychological evaluation, background investigation, personal interview and medical exam as well as the written test. Applicants are required to have Paramedic and Firefighter level I and Level II (270 hours) Certification by the time of appointment. You will also need to submit copies of: driver’s license,proof of citizenship, high school diploma/GED. Physical agility certificate will be needed at the time of appointment.
Extra credits will be given for the following:
· Military 5% (DD214) Discharge Certificate showing honorable discharge or current active status.
· Residency 3% when proper proof of one-year current residency in the city of Brook Park is verified by the Brook Park Tax Department
· Education - bachelor 4% or associates degree 2% from an accredited institution in Fire or health sciences.
· In order to receive credit, you must have a passing grade of 70% on the written exam.
· You must provide proof at the time of application.
· Maximum combined credit is 10%.
Salary and benefits, are per collective bargaining agreement.
