Department OverviewThe Sheffield Village Fire Department operates a three shift rotation to which six firefighter/paramedics are assigned, working 48 hours on duty followed by 96 hours off duty. The SVFD operates two engines, one aerial ladder, two paramedic ambulances, one light rescue, one rescue/suppression UTV, boat and operations trailer. The SVFD is an ISO Class 3 rated organization. Sheffield Village is experiencing rapid growth with many new residential and commercial developments.

Necessary Certifications: Ohio Fire II Certification, Ohio Paramedic Certification, ACLS, PALS, and BLS Certifications.
Additional Requirements: Physical Agility Certificate from Tri-C or equivalent.
Hiring Process: Applicants placed on the eligibility list who are called in for an interview shall be required to pass a psychological examination and comprehensive background check. Eligible candidates will then interview with the Captains board, the Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief and Mayor/Safety Director. An OP&F pension physical shall be conducted prior to the hiring of a candidate. The pension physical fee will be paid by the Village of Sheffield.
