Hiring Process:
The SPD hiring process begins with your submitting an application and completing a test through the National Testing Network. Upon review of your application packet and test scores, you may be extended an invitation to come to Sheridan for physical fitness testing and a hiring oral board. Testing is offered several times a year, typically on the third Thursday of each month. For testing, you will need to complete a physical test following the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy fitness standards. Then you must pass an oral board. Once you successfully complete the testing process (NTN test, physical test, oral board) you will be placed on a hiring list. If your score is high enough you will then move into the background phase. This will include a background investigation, medical exam, psychological exam, polygraph, and interview with the chief. If you complete that phase you may be offered a position with the Sheridan Police Department
