Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue is currently hiring for the position of Firefighter/EMT/Paramedic. Candidates are required to take the NTN Firefighter exam (PSSA recommended, but not required) and apply via the Town’s website. No experience needed.

Salary information:
Firefighter/ EMT (Recruit): $50,846 (Earning potential up to $69,285)Firefighter/ EMT (IFSAC or Pro Board Firefighter II Certified): $56,992 (Earning potential up to $69,285)Firefighter/Paramedic (IFSAC or Pro Board accredited Firefighter II: $66,111(Earning potential up to $80,370)
• Sign-on bonuses will be paid to certified Firefighters ($2,500), EMTs ($2,500), and Paramedics ($10,000) whose credentials are transferable or have reciprocity (do not require additional education or training to become credentialed in South Carolina).

Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue (HHIFR):
• Provide fire suppression, advanced life support transport - emergency medical services (EMS), hazardous materials, and technical rescue services to the community.
• Responds to an average of 9,700 calls per year among fire, EMS, and special teams.
• Personnel are all trained to a minimum level of Basic Emergency Medical
Technician (EMT) and approximately 50% of our personnel are trained to the paramedic (EMT-P} level certification.
• Operates a 24 on and 48-hours-off three-shift system with a minimum staffing level of twenty-nine (29) personnel on duty each day.
• Operates a 3-person day crew on a 1O hours/day, 4 days/Week schedule to support normal staffing during the daytime hours and to cover companies that relocate to our training center.
• Operates out of 7 fire stations, each with an engine or quint and an Advanced Life uSupport (ALS) ambulance. A Truck Company and one Battalion Chief fill out the apparatus
assignments at the fire stations.
• Participates in a partnership with a neighboring department in the staffing and management of a Regional Hazard Materials Team and a Regional Urban Search and Rescue Team.
• Manages our own enhanced 911 Communications Center and vehicle
maintenance facility and provides emergency management for the town.
