POSITION DESCRIPTION: Ranger SergeantPOSITION GOAL: Supervise law enforcement personnel and operations to deliver district initiatives which support Metroparks strategic plan and to ensure Metroparks exceeds community expectations in delivery of clean, safe, natural parks and services.
CLASSIFICATION: Hourly – Non-Exempt - Full Time – Year Round
COMPENSATION: $27.25 - $40.88/hr - Employer and employee contribute to Public Employee Retirement System
REPORTS TO: Chief of Rangers
DIRECT REPORTS: Park Ranger, Deputy Ranger, Officer in Charge, Ranger Trainee
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
EQUIPMENT USED: Safety equipment; law enforcement defensive equipment, firearms and restraints; AEDs; patrol bicycles; computers and MS Office software products, mobile data terminal, LEADS and TRAK computers; audiovisual equipment; patrol vehicle.

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Alternates to the following position requirements may be made as Metroparks finds appropriate and acceptable
Education: Associate’s degree in Parks and Recreation Services, Natural Resources, or Criminal Justice Service or similar field of study or equivalent work experience. OPOTA Certification.
Experience: Seasoned level of leadership experience in law enforcement. Supervisory experience.

Department Overview: Metroparks Toledo is made up of 19 parks in Lucas, County OH, with over 12,700 acres of clean, safe, natural, and equitable parklands. Metroparks Toledo is expanding in several areas of Lucas County; the most noticeable is our newest Metropark in Downtown Toledo – Glass City. Our department consists of 30 Park Rangers, who are all certified Peace Officers in the State of Ohio. We take our role very seriously and have great pride in our community policing efforts. With that, our staff keeps busy in a variety of roles. We enforce all criminal and traffic laws within, and adjacent to, our parklands. We are also committed to the preservation of our natural resources through numerous conservation projects, wildlife management, programs, education, and enforcement.
