Classification: Police Officer - Lateral
The Grand Ronde Tribal Police Department is currently hiring a Police Officer – Lateral. All candidates must take the FrontLine National test OR the National Police Officer Selection Test (POST) and have a valid passing ORPAT (all tests must have been completed within one year of your application date).
Candidates must also complete a Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde application, found at https://grandronde.acquiretm.com/home.aspx
Applicants are responsible for contacting NTN and arranging for their own testing. If you have completed the ORPAT and/or POST with another department, you may submit your results on department letterhead with your application.
Salary Information: $32.74- $42.16/hr (84 hour pay period)
DPSST CERTIFICATE INCENTIVE PAY:
Tribal Police Officers obtaining DPSST certifications may receive additional pay incentive
Police Officers receiving their intermediate certification may receive additionalincentive pay by 1.5%Police Officers receiving their advanced certification may receive additional incentivepay by 3%Police Officers receiving their supervisor, management or executive certification mayreceive additional incentive pay by 4%
Bilingual incentive pay, 5% when eligible
Lateral employees are eligible for incentives upon completion of probation.
Lateral hires may receive up to a $3,000.00 sign on bonus for accepting employment with the Tribe and remaining satisfactorily employed at the Tribal Police Department for a period of one (1) year.
EDUCATION INCENTIVE PAY
Tribal Police Department employees obtaining higher level education may receive additional payincentive. The degree must benefit the police department.
Employees may receive up to 2.5% for an Associate's degree in Criminal Justice.Employees may receive up to 5% for a Bachelor degree in Criminal JusticeEmployees may receive up to 7% for a Master or Doctorate degree in Criminal Justice

Department Overview: The Grand Ronde Tribal Police Department provides 24/7 law enforcement coverage to 1500 residents within several housing developments and the Spirit Mountain Casino. There are 12 sworn officers, including the Police Chief, Lieutenant, Sergeant and Corporal. The members of the Grand Ronde Tribal Police Department truly care about our community based policing style and providing excellent customer service.
Within the department specialized assignments include; School Resource Officer (SRO), Detective, Community Resource Officer (CSO) and Forest Patrol.
Area Information: We are located in Oregon's coast range about 30 miles east of Salem and 25 minutes west of the Oregon Coast. The Grand Ronde Community has several stores and gas stations, a medical clinic, a museum and many more government buildings.

Academy Certification : Lateral applicants must possess at least a Basic certification from the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training, and/or any equivalent out-of-state certification recognized by DPSST.

Employment Disqualifiers :
Discharge from employment related to poor performance, attendance, policy violations, or inability to adjust to corrective discipline. Any discharge from the armed services other than honorable will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Additional Disqualifiers: The Grand Ronde Tribal Police Chief will make a determination regarding a candidate’s overall suitability to be considered for employment as a police officer based on the totality of their history in the areas above.
