The National Testing Network administers the application and written examination process for the Long Grove Fire Protection District, while the Board of Fire Commissioners retains authority over the application process and hiring of individuals. The Long Grove Fire Protection District, Lake and Cook Counties, Illinois is accepting applications for the position of firefighter/paramedic.
Salary: $81199.40 - $138233.49
Population: 10,000

All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements established by the Long Grove Fire Protection District:.
Preference Points:
Veterans Preference Points: (5 points)
Awarded to applicants who have served a minimum of 1 year of active duty for U.S. military service members with an Honorable Discharge. DD-214 (long form) must be submitted with application to qualify.
A maximum of ten (10) Preference Points will be awarded as determined by the Long Grove Board of Fire Commissioners for the following:
Paramedic License: (5 points)
Candidates who at the time of application have obtained an Illinois IDPH Paramedic with practicing privileges in the Northwest Community EMS System as documented in a letter of Good Standing from the system. A copy of your Paramedic license and letter of good standing must be submitted with the application to qualify.
Firefighter II/Basic Operations: (5 points)
Candidates who at the time of application have obtained Certification by the State Fire Marshal Office as a Basic Operations Firefighter (Firefighter II) from a qualifying academy – NIPSTA, Romeoville, or IFSI. Academy certificate must be submitted with application to qualify.
Paid on Premise Employee or LGFPD Cadet (2.5 points)
Applicants who are currently employed as part-time shift firefighter/paramedics (permanent paid-on-premise) or are rostered cadets for the Long Grove Fire Protection District.
Submission of Application:
Mandatory On-line Written Examination Testing and Completed Personal History Questionnaire [PHQ] - Candidates will need to have access to a laptop or desktop computer: Following completion of all National Testing Network written examination [Minimum written passing score of 70% of all 5 categories] and PHQ application materials, and review of minimum qualifications; successful and qualified applicants may be invited to participate in a Long Grove Fire Protection staff and a Board of Fire Commissioners interview.
