Position Title: Police Officer - Lateral Hire
Salary Information: Starting salary based on 12 hour shift schedule as of 5/1/24 $89,808 to $103,911 depending on years of service.

Department Overview
The Willowbrook Police Department is currently comprised of 27 full-time sworn officers and three full-time non-sworn civilian employees. As a smaller agency we deploy our staff and resources in the best way possible to provide professional law enforcement services to our community. We take pride in our partnerships with other law enforcement agencies such as Metropolitan Emergency Response and Investigations Team (MERIT), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Illinois Police Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS), and DuPage Metropolitan Enforcement Group (DuMEG). These partnerships allow us to give the larger agency feel to our smaller department. Positions within the Department include patrol, investigations, drug task force officer, evidence technician, Community Oriented Policing Unit, juvenile officer, field training officer, firearms instructor, defensive tactics instructor, and bicycle officer.

The Village is a diverse, highly service-oriented community located 15 miles west of downtown Chicago.
Population
Willowbrook has a population of 9,236 residents, however, the daytime population is estimated at approximately 30,000.
Job Requirements
Age: 21 years of age to under 35 years of age at time of application and at such time as the initial eligibility list is posted (unless otherwise exempt by statute).
US Citizen: United States citizen, or an individual who is not a citizen but who is legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law or is an individual against whom immigration action has been deferred by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services under the federal Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) process, subject to the individual being authorized under federal law to obtain, carry, or purchase or otherwise possess a firearm.
High School Grad/GED: Yes
Valid Driver’s License: Yes
Ability to Read/Speak English :Yes
Vision: Eyesight correctable to 20/20 in each eye, normal depth perception and no color blindness that would prevent an individual from performing the essential functions of the job.
Prior Experience:
- To be considered for lateral hire, applicants must have been employed, whether currently or in the past, for at least (2) years as a full-time, non-probationary, sworn law enforcement officer by a Federal, State, County or local law enforcement agency. Applicants must be in good standing with the agency in which they served. (Part-time certification as a law enforcement officer does not meet this requirement.)
- Candidates must have also successfully completed the Illinois Basic Law Enforcement Academy and possess certification from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board or be qualified to take the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board "Out of State Reciprocity" examination. (Part-time certification as a law enforcement officer does not meet this requirement.)
Additional Requirements:
-No felony convictions involving moral turpitude, as specified in 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6.-Agree to comply with all requirements of the position and have the ability to pass all examinations and training requirements.-Be in good standing with the agency in which the applicant currently serves or has separated from in good standing, with no adverse employment action.-Be eligible to be granted a waiver of basic training from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training & Standards Board (ILETSB).-Agree to comply with all requirements regarding Tattoos and Body Art Restrictions contained in the Rules and Regulations of the Willowbrook Police Department.

Selection Process: Each phase of the process is pass / fail and required to proceed to the next.-Completion of Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ) and submit required documents.-Completion of FrontLine National Exam and Public Safety Self-Assessment (PSSA) through National Testing Network (www.nationaltestingnetwork.com). Candidates may take the test virtually or in-person at an NTN testing center. For assistance with virtual examinations, click here for more details. For other problems or questions, email NTN Customer Support: support@nationaltestingnetwork.com. -Establish a continuous eligibility list based on score of initial tests.-Oral Interview – As vacancies arise, a select number of eligible applicants will be contacted to participate in an oral interview based upon their written test rankings. -Applicants who pass the oral interview will be placed on a lateral hire candidate pool for one year.
If selected from the lateral hire candidate pool, applicants will then participate in the following:-Staff Interview / Comprehensive-Background Investigation -Post-offer examinations / screenings include but are not limited to: psychological evaluation; medical / vision examinations; and drug screen.
