Vision: This position requires competency in detecting and investigating criminal activity; enforcement of local, state, and federal laws; preparation of accurate reports to help in follow-up investigation, criminal and civil court, and in department investigations. All assignments require rotating shifts since the Sheriff’s Office functions 24-hours a day, seven (7) days a week. Other duties may include serving civil papers, guarding prisoners, and assisting other agencies.
The following job duties are established to outline the basic duties and responsibilities of the above captioned position. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Remain calm and respond appropriately to emergency and threatening situations; protect self and others in threatening situations; able to physically subdue and control unruly and resisting individuals.• Maintain Office proficiency standards in the use of firearms and other assigned equipment

Hiring Process:The following are the steps for the hiring process:
1. Online assessment test - National Testing Network (NTN).
2. Once you take and pass the NTN test, a recruiter will send you an email that provides instruction on how to select a date for the PAT. We will be running the PAT every Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. unless inclement weather, holiday or other unforeseen circumstances.
3. Background Packet.We will provide the background packet at the PAT OR you may pick up a background packet at HR (1150 O St) or Weld County Sheriff's Office Admin (1950 O St). The background packet needs to be turned into HR (1150 O Street). We will make copies of all your original documents.
4. Polygraph - scheduled by the polygraph examiner.
5. Psychological Exam - scheduled by a Sheriff's Office Employee.
6. Drug Screen - scheduled by a Sheriff's Office Employee.
7. Physical fitness examination (ErgoMed) - scheduled by a Sheriff's Office Employee.
8. Hired.
