Salary Information: 1st year $84,406.85, Top rate after two years $107,816.34

Department Overview

Mayfield Village is located in Northeast Cuyahoga County serving just over 3,000 residents and a variety of businesses. The police Department is staffed by 18 Full-Time Officers who are committed to delivering excellent service to a supportive community.

Job Requirements

Age: Applicants must be a minimum of 21 years of age and no more than 36 years of age on the date of appointment.
US Citizen: Yes
High School Grad/GED: Yes
Valid State Driver’s License: Yes
Ability to Read/Speak English: Yes
Vision: Normal vision with or without correction.
College: Not required.
Academy Certification: Possess current OPOTA certification or currently enrolled on OPOTA approved academy. (Must have certificate prior to hire).
Prior Experience: Not required.
Additional Requirements: Current Agility test (Tri-C or other test that meets OPOTA requriements). Agility not reqired if candidate graduated Police Academy in past 12 months or is a current sworn Officer.

Hiring Process:

NTN Testing. (Must obtain a grade of 70% or better).
Civil Service Certification and calculation of preference points.
Comprehensive Background Investigation.
Polygraph Test.
Interview.
Psychological and Medical Evaluations.

Preference Points

2% Associates Degree in LE or related field.
4% Bachelors or higher in LE or related field.
4% Prior Military with Honorable Discharge.
6% Current Sworn Officer.
Maximum of 10 percentage points allowed.
