Position Title: Firefighter EMT

The Calumet Park Fire Department is currently hiring for the position of Firefighter EMT. Candidates are required to complete NTN's FireTEAM exam to move forward in the process.

Calumet Park Fire Department is a combination fire department, each shift is staffed with 4 to 5 members on a daily basis. We have 11 sworn full-time members (1 immediate opening at this time) and supplement with one additional part-time member daily. We provide fire suppression, technical rescue, hazardous material mitigation and advance life support to our community. The Calumet Park Fire Department services the Village of Calumet Park in just over a one square mile response area. We also cover 3.5 miles of I-57 from 119 th street to 147 th street.

We operate from one station and equip a fire engine, ladder truck, and two ambulances. The Calumet Park Fire Department has automatic-aid agreements with the City of Alsip, the City of Blue Island, Village of Crestwood, Village of Garden Homes, Village of Merrionette Park, Village of Midlothian, Village of Posen, Village of Riverdale, and the Village of Robins. These automatic-aid agreements add an additional response area of almost 24 square miles. We are also a member of the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) division 22.

Job Requirements

Necessary Qualifications:

Applicant must be at least 21 years of age
Be a citizen of the United States
No felony convictions
Have a high school diploma or equivalent
Possess a valid Driver's License
Be certified as a Basic Operations Firefighter or Firefighter II through the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal
State of Illinois (IDPH) licensed EMT
Current CPAT and Ladder Climb required

Job Description:

Candidates will be responsible for department vehicles and equipment
Candidates will be responsible for patient care and completing all necessary patient care report forms
Candidates will perform interior and exterior structural firefighting operations
Candidates will be required to become familiar with department vehicles, operations, and Region SMO’s
Candidates will report to the Shift Lieutenant while on duty and given other duties assigned.

Applicants will be subject to an interview, background examination and medical evaluation before being considered for employment. Once completed, preference points will be turned in for the final eligibility list.
